Terms of Use
Please read these terms carefully before using CodiCAT. Use of the platform implies acceptance of these terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using CodiCAT, you accept these Terms of Use. If you are under 14 years of age, your parent or legal guardian must accept these terms on your behalf. If you are an educational centre or teacher using CodiCAT in a school context, you accept these terms on behalf of your students.
CodiCAT reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. Modifications will be announced on the platform with a minimum of 30 days' notice.
2. User Roles
CodiCAT recognises two main roles:
• Student: a user who uses the platform to learn to code, complete exercises, and track their progress. The student joins a class using a code provided by the teacher.
• Teacher: a user who creates and manages classes, monitors student progress, receives difficulty alerts, and accesses the control panel. The teacher is responsible for ensuring that their students' use of the platform complies with these terms.
• Administrator: a role reserved for SEBA for curriculum content management and platform oversight.
Each user is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their access credentials.
3. Acceptable Use
CodiCAT users agree to:
• Use the platform solely for educational and learning purposes.
• Not share exercise solutions with other students in a way that prevents their autonomous learning.
• Not attempt to access other users' data or parts of the platform for which they are not authorised.
• Not post offensive, discriminatory, or inappropriate content in any text field on the platform.
• Not attempt to manipulate the scoring system or badges dishonestly.
• Respect the intellectual property rights of CodiCAT's curriculum content.
Breaching these rules may result in account suspension or deletion.
4. Alignment with LOMLOE and Catalan Curriculum
CodiCAT has been designed to complement the official Technology and Digitalisation curriculum for Year 9 in Catalonia, in accordance with:
• Organic Law 3/2020 amending the LOE (LOMLOE).
• Decree 175/2022 on the basic education curriculum in Catalonia.
• Learning Situations (Situacions d'Aprenentatge) as the official pedagogical methodology.
• The specific digital competences of compulsory secondary education.
CodiCAT does not replace the professional judgement of the teacher. Grades and assessments generated by the platform are support tools and have no official value until the teacher validates and incorporates them into their assessment system.
5. Limitation of Liability
CodiCAT is provided "as is" for educational purposes. SEBA does not guarantee that the platform will be free from errors or interruptions. In no event shall SEBA be liable for:
• Data losses caused by technical failures beyond our control.
• Academic outcomes resulting from the use or non-use of the platform.
• User-generated content (submitted code, messages in text fields).
SEBA's maximum liability for any claim is limited to the amount paid by the user or centre in the preceding 12 months.
6. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms of Use are governed by Spanish and Catalan law. For any dispute arising from the use of CodiCAT, the parties submit to the courts of Barcelona, expressly waiving any other jurisdiction that may apply to them.
For users in the United Kingdom, the UK GDPR applies and the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales governs data protection matters.
